Getting started with iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)

You can use the OverDrive app to get eBooks and audiobooks from the library on your iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch).  To get detailed help and instructions please click here.

Step 1

Download the OverDrive app from the Apple App Store

Step 2

Open the OverDrive app and follow the prompts to sign up if this is the first time you will use the app and follow the online prompts. Use sign in if you already downloaded the app previously but need to do it again (e.g. new device, deleted the app, etc.).

Do not sign up using library card or Facebook. Enter your details - name, email address, and password to sign in with (or create) your OverDrive account.

Step 3

In the OverDrive app, swipe from left to right to open the Home menu. Then, tap Add a library to find the library's digital collection.

·       Tap your library's name to start browsing.

·       Sign into Overdrive with your Robert College username and password (the first part of your RC email address and the password).

Android

Getting started with Android

You can use the OverDrive app to get eBooks and audiobooks from the library on your Android device. To get detailed instructions and help please click here.

Notes: Android devices include many phones and tablets, like the Google Pixel, Samsung phones and tablets, and more.

Download the OverDrive app from one of the following:

Open the OverDrive app and follow the prompts to sign up if this is the first time you will use the app and follow the online prompts. Use sign in if you already downloaded the app previously but need to do it again (e.g. new device, deleted the app, etc.).

Step 3

Add the Robert College Library by clicking on the icon of the left side on the screen and tap Manage Libraries.  Use the + in the corner to find Robert College then tap the Star icon to save it to your library list. The star will turn gold when the library is saved. From here, you can also tap the library's name to start browsing right away. 

Step 4

Sign into Overdrive using your Robert College username and password (the first part of your email address and your email password.

eReaders

Getting started with eReaders

You can borrow eBooks from your library and transfer them to compatible eReaders using free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software on your Windows or Mac computer.

Step 1

Connect your eReader to your computer.

Step 2

Install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) on your computer. Overdrive and Kobo work together with a Adobe Digital Editions, v. 4.5.  If you don't have v. 4.5, please download it here.

Step 3

On your computer, open our Overdrive (http://robcol.lib.overdrive.com) and borrow an eBook by downloading it. 

Step 4 Transferring a book to your eReader (If you have a Kindle, you can only use your Kindle eReader in the U.S. at this time).

Make sure Adobe Digital Editions is open and your eReader is connected to your computer. From Adobe Digital Editions drag or copy the eBook to your device.

This is what it looks like for Kobo.

To safely remove your Kobo from your computer, on your Mac desktop, right-click on the KOBOeReader icon and select Eject "KOBOeReader".
